Spam/Email Filtering

Our new Mail Scan spam identification system uses a rule-based process which incorporates a wide range of heuristic tests on mail headers and body text to identify spam. This approach increases the accuracy of the identification of actual spam and decreases the chance for "false positives".

You can determine what to do with potential spam that you receive via the use of filters on your E-mail client or via server-side filters on our mail server (via our Web Mail interface).

Here is how it works:

1. A E-mail is received by our E-mail system.
2. The E-mail is passed through our Spam identification system which uses its rules to intelligently identify spam.
3. In addition, the prefix [may-be-spam] is added to the Subject line of messages believed to be spam.
4. Once the message is tagged as spam, you then can decide what to do with it.
5. You can set up filters in various E-mail clients to match the Subject line prefix and send the spam directly to your trash can, or if you prefer, a special "spam" folder.
6. All email attachments are scanned for viruses, and all known viruses stripped from the email BEFORE it gets to your email box! This greatly decreases your risk of receiving an email virus.
